Queen Victoria Bun Head penny. This type of bronze coin was issued by the Heaton Mint in 1874, 1875 and 1877.
There are three Obverse types (6, 7 and 8) covering this year according to Spink. Unfortunately, there is too much wear to determine which one matches this particular coin.
Designated as Reverse type H by Spink.
“Britannia seated right on rocks with shield and trident, crosses on shield outlined with wider spaced thinner double raised lines, thumb touches St. George Cross, L.C.W. incuse below shield, date below in exergue, lighthouse with 4 windows to left, rocks touch linear circle, ship sailing to right, toothed border.”
