Sir James Brooke acquired control of Sarawak in 1841 and he and his family ruled this corner of the island of Borneo for about 100 years.
Except for a single issue in 1841, all of Sarawak’s coins were minted at Heaton.
Sarawak 1 cent coin dated 1930 minted at Heaton. Obverse is head of C. V. Brooke Rajah. Charles Vyner was Charles’ nephew.
